Principles of Islamic jurisprudence (usool al-fiqh) is a subject that provides a critical analysis of the sources and principles that Islamic jurisprudence (fiqh) is built upon. Traditionally four main sources are anaylsed along with a number of secondary sources and principles. The main subject areas of discussion comprise Usool al-fiqh comprises the conjunction of two Arabic terms, usool and fiqh.
